Keep Those Donations Coming!

Happy Monday, dear T.H.R.I.V.E. Association family! We hope that everyone is enjoying this beautiful May weather. However, just because it is getting warmer outside does not mean that we are not crafting up a storm for our cause. Our homeless veterans and their dependents are always at the forefront of our minds here at T.H.R.I.V.E. Association HQ.

If you would like to craft a gift for our cause but need inspiration, please peruse our blog at https://thrivevets.org/index.php/blog/ where you can find free patterns as well as awesome tips and tricks.

Mother’s Day

Happy Monday, dear T.H.R.I.V.E. Association family! We’d like to give a belated shout out to all of the awesome mothers in our community! If you are still looking for a gift for the mom in your life, please consider making a tax-deductible donation to our cause in your mom’s honor.

It’s Heating Up!

Happy Monday, dear T.H.R.I.V.E. Association family! It’s starting to heat up here in Texas, but let’s not let that stop us from crafting the warm garments that are needed for our nation’s underprivileged military veterans and their dependents throughout the United States.

If you would like to donate a hat, scarf, lap blanket or other handcrafted garment to our cause, please remember that the dear veterans and their dependents prefer dark colors, e.g. blue, black, green, grey, and all-time favorite, camouflage. If you would like to knit, crochet, or sew a garment in a brighter color, red or deep purple are always popular bright colors. We cannot emphasize this important point enough: please do not use sparkly or overly decorative yarns and fabrics. While they have their place, they are simply inappropriate for the veterans and their dependents (including children because of choking hazards).

If you are not a crafter, but would like to help, there are still many ways to support our cause! Please consider donating materials and/or making a monetary donation to help us cover the costs of materials, shipping, and overhead.

If you have donations and are in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, we are still continuing our policy of curbside pickup. Please contact us to schedule a pickup. If you reside outside the DFW area and would like to make an in-kind donation, you can ship your donations to us here in Dallas. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us. Remember, even one lovingly handcrafted hat or scarf can make a huge difference in the life of an underprivileged veteran or their dependent(s)!

Donate Now!

Happy Monday, dear T.H.R.I.V.E. Association family. April is quickly drawing to an end, and with it this year’s tax season. Many of us are starting to receive our tax refunds. We’d like to remind everyone that all monetary donations made to T.H.R.I.V.E. Association are tax deductible. Even a single dollar goes a long way to help us accomplish our mission!

Tax Day

Happy Monday, dear T.H.R.I.V.E. Association family! Today is the day when our individual tax returns are due to the federal government and stress is undoubtedly high. Knitting, crocheting, or sewing are wonderful outlets to decompress and calm our frazzled nerves during these taxing times. With that in mind, you can also help us in our mission by donating a handcrafted gift to T.H.R.I.V.E. for our veterans and their dependents in need during their road to recovery!

If you are not a crafter, but would like to help, there are still many ways to support our cause! Please consider donating materials and/or making a monetary donation to help us cover the costs of materials, shipping, and overhead.

If you have donations and cannot make it to one of our in-person knitting groups, we are still continuing our policy of curbside pickup. Please contact us to schedule a pickup if you are in the DFW area. If you reside outside the DFW area and would like to make an in-kind donation, please contact us to make arrangements. Remember, even one lovingly handcrafted hat or scarf can make a huge difference in the life of an underprivileged veteran or their dependent(s)!

It’s April 1st, But Not April Fools

Happy Monday, T.H.R.I.V.E. Association family. It’s April 1st, but we’re not fooling around! We’re all hands on deck and singularly focused on our mission to provide hand-made gifts to our military veterans and their dependents.

If you would like to donate a hat, scarf, lap blanket or other handcrafted garment to our cause, please remember that the dear veterans and their dependents prefer dark colors, e.g. blue, black, green, grey, and all-time favorite, camouflage. We Need Your Support!

Happy Monday, dear T.H.R.I.V.E. Association family! We need your support to continue our mission to provide a hand up to all of our underprivileged military veterans and their dependents. All monetary donations are tax deductible and directly help to cover the costs of materials, shipping, and overhead. No donation is too little, as a single skein of inexpensive yarn can be lovingly hand crafted into multiple gifts for our veteran community to treasure for the warmth and support that they provide.

All About That “Handmade!”

Happy Monday, dear T.H.R.I.V.E. Association family! Spring is almost here, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t still a need for our warm, handcrafted garments. There are still lots of Stand Downs coming up and we really need wheelchair blankets, hats, scarves, booties, and mittens to ensure that the needs of our homeless veteran community are met.

Please keep in mind that, as our name and mission suggests, we provide handmade goods to our nation’s homeless veterans and their dependents. We put our love and goodwill into every stitch of every garment that we provide at our partner Stand Downs nationwide. On occasion, we do receive donations of purchased garments (whether knit or not) or offers of bulk-bought garments. We can’t accept or use these garments. Purchased/commerically-finished garments are lovely and they certainly have their place, but they aren’t what we do. Our mission is to offer a hand up to our underprivileged military veterans and their dependents by “…gifting hand-crafted goods.

The veterans and their dependents who receive our gifts at the Stand Downs really love and cherish the handmade aspect of the T.H.R.I.V.E. Association garment(s) that they choose. The feedback that we’ve received through the years is that the handmade garments make them feel more loved and appreciated.

Donate to our Cause

Happy Monday, dear T.H.R.I.V.E. Association family! Please keep the recipients in mind when crafting for our veterans and their dependents. Colors such as camouflage or solid blacks, blues, greens, grays, dark reds, and royal purples are the most desired by the veteran community that we serve. Also, the majority of those that we serve are predominantly adult males, so make sure to size accordingly!

If you are not a crafter, but would like to help, there are still many ways to support our cause! Please consider donating materials and/or making a monetary donation to help us cover the costs of materials, shipping, and overhead.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us through our email at thriveassociation@thrivevets.org or by phone at (469) 427-9654. A staff member will be happy to assist you! Please be aware that any communications are recorded. We are still continuing our policy of curbside pickup for our DFW area residents, so if you have any donations please contact us to schedule a pickup. If you reside outside the DFW area and would like to make an in-kind donation, please contact us to make arrangements. Remember, even one lovingly handcrafted hat or scarf can make a huge difference in the life of an underprivileged veteran or their dependent(s)!
